Here are some frequently asked questions we've found clients have when seeking support for their grants program development.
Our specialized grants databases ensure that the prospects we identify are aligned with your organization’s mission, vision, constituency, location, and budget. Our researchers ensure that you fit all of their funding criteria. Not all opportunities are equal. We identify those best suited to YOU.
For this package, we promise at least 12, the idea being this gives you at least one proposal a month to submit.
For this process to be effective, yes, it takes 12 months. Where possible, we suggest reaching out and talking to the foundation. We've found this to be more successful than just submitting proposals blindly.
Our policy is to conduct a monthly meeting with all of our clients. To track progress outside of this meeting, your Grant Submission Calendar shows what we are working on each month (as well as for the quarter). Per our policy, we will send a weekly update on our progress, and are available M-F, 9a-5p EST to respond to any questions you may have (via phone or email).
It can take between 2-3 times before a new grant is awarded. This is why we work with you to create: 1) a cultivation strategy for each individual foundation, and 2) a grant submission strategy, which expands your overall funding portfolio and increases your chances of being funded.
Our monthly retainer service is designed to keep your organization on track to pursue the prospects we identified. To handle opportunities that arise outside of these, your options include working with staff, volunteers or board to use the Master Content Document we created to complete this application; or we can replace one of the opportunities on your list with this one.
Because grant decisions are influenced by many factors—including funder priorities, available funding, timing, organizational readiness, and competitiveness—no ethical grant writer can guarantee awards or claim a 100% success rate. We can say Heart for the Community focuses on helping organizations become stronger, more competitive funding candidates over time.
